1. Who we are

Zone H2O operates the site zoneh2o.com and offers waterfront products and services in Gatineau and across Canada. We are responsible for the personal information you entrust to us through this site.

The person responsible for the protection of personal information within our company is Christopher W. Légaré, Co-founder. You can reach them with any question or request related to this policy at the contact details in the « Contact us » section.

Personal information is information about a natural person that makes it possible, directly or indirectly, to identify them (for example your name, your email address or your phone number).

2. The information we collect

What you give us

When you fill in one of our forms (quote request, lift selector, dock project, contact form), we collect the information you enter:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • your phone number;
  • your municipality and the details of your project (type of boat or dock, body of water, timeline, indicative budget, any details you add, and so on);
  • your message and any information you choose to send us;
  • your consents (for example, whether you agree to receive text messages or our marketing communications), along with the date you gave them.

What is collected automatically

When you visit the site, some technical information is collected automatically, partly to run and secure the site and partly, with your permission, to measure how it is used:

  • your IP address;
  • the type of device, the browser and the operating system you use;
  • the pages you view, the page you arrived through, and the site or ad that brought you to us;
  • campaign source parameters (for example « utm » parameters or an ad click identifier) that help us know how you found us.

The details of cookies and measurement tools are in our cookie policy.

3. Why we use it

We use your information only for specific purposes:

  • Answering your requests: getting back to you, preparing your quote and following up on your project;
  • Communicating with you by email, by phone and, if you have consented, by text message;
  • Sending you our tips and offers, only if you have chosen to receive them;
  • Improving our site and our services by measuring, with your permission, how the site is used;
  • Measuring our ad campaigns and showing you relevant offers, with your permission;
  • Keeping the site secure and preventing fraud and unwanted automated submissions.

We do not make any decision about you based solely on automated processing of your information.

4. Your consent

We collect and use your information with your consent. By filling in a form, you consent to our using the information provided to answer your request. The separate consents (text messages, marketing communications) are optional: you can submit your request without accepting them.

Non-essential cookies and measurement tools stay off until you have accepted them in our consent banner.

You can withdraw your consent at any time, with no effect on how your file proceeds: reply STOP to a text message, click the unsubscribe link in our emails, adjust your cookies from the « Manage my cookies » link, or write to us (see « Contact us »).

5. Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information and we do not trade it. We rely on trusted providers who process certain information on our behalf, only to the extent necessary to deliver their service, and who are required to protect it.

We may also disclose your information if the law requires it, to respond to a request from a public authority, or to assert our rights.

6. Information processed outside Quebec

Several of our providers are companies established outside Quebec, mainly in the United States. Your information may therefore be stored or accessed outside Quebec, including by those providers’ support staff.

Before entrusting information to these providers, we make sure they offer adequate protection, backed by their contractual commitments and their own security measures. If you would like to know more about that assessment, write to us.

7. Text message (SMS) communications

If you check the box provided in a form, Zone H2O may send you notification and follow-up text messages about your request and your project. This consent is optional and is not required to obtain a quote.

  • Message frequency varies as your file progresses.
  • Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
  • Reply HELP (or AIDE) for help, and STOP (or ARRÊT) to unsubscribe at any time.

Your consent to text messages and your contact details are never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. They are used only to reach you about your request, as described in this policy.

8. Cookies and measurement technologies

Our site uses cookies and similar technologies. Non-essential cookies (traffic measurement, heatmaps, session recordings and advertising) only load after you have consented.

When you consent to advertising measurement and send us a request, your email address and phone number may be transmitted to Google in hashed (unreadable) form in order to measure how well our ads perform. This measurement is not used to identify you publicly.

The details of the cookies, how long they last and how to manage them are in our cookie policy.

9. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected for, then we destroy or anonymize it:

  • Request with no follow-through: the information of a prospect we do not contact again is kept for up to 36 months, then destroyed.
  • Business relationship: if your request leads to a project, we keep the information for the duration of the relationship, then for the period required by our legal, accounting and tax obligations.
  • Proof of consent: we keep the date and the scope of the consents you give us for as long as they remain valid.
  • Cookies and session recordings: for the durations set out in the cookie policy and the retention periods of our measurement providers.

10. How we protect it

We take reasonable measures to protect your information against loss, theft and unauthorized access: encrypted transmission (HTTPS), access restricted to the people who need it, and reliance on providers who apply their own recognized security measures.

No system is infallible. If a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury were to occur, we would take the steps required by law, including informing you and notifying the Commission d’accès à l’information where required.

11. Your rights

The law gives you several rights over your information. You can:

  • Access the information we hold about you;
  • Have corrected any information that is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous;
  • Withdraw your consent to a use or a disclosure;
  • Obtain a copy of the computerized information you provided to us, in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability);
  • Request that we stop disseminating information about you, or de-index a link concerning you, under the conditions set out by law.

To exercise one of these rights, write to us (see « Contact us »). We will respond within the timeframes set by law, generally within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting.

12. Minors

Our site and our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information about a child under 14 without the consent of their parent or guardian. If you believe such information has been sent to us, write to us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect a change in our practices or in the law. The date it was last updated is shown at the top of the page. If there is a significant change, we will make a reasonable effort to let you know.

14. Contact us
